Bio
During school, I was active in gymnastics, cheerleading, and volleyball. In college, was granted a spot on the cheer team at the University of Southern Indiana, only to have to cut my time short because of a back injury.
During college, I saw myself slowly becoming sedentary. I had put on some extra weight, that most like to call, the “freshman fifteen”. Shortly after college, I married my husband, and yet again continued to add on another couple “happy” pounds. I no longer had that “cheerleader” body that I had in high school.
In January 2008, I decided that enough was enough. However, I wasn’t too thrilled about going to a new gym with people I didn’t know, and working out in front strangers. Are you kidding? Intimidating! I then decided to try the infamous P90X. After the first couple weeks, I wanted to quit. “This is so hard!” I thought, but I kept going. Within a month, I was starting to notice a difference in the way I looked and felt. I finished the program in 90 days, and wow! I had my “cheerleader” body back!
It was then in the spring of 2008, when I joined the local gym and had the confidence to workout in front of those “strangers” in the gym. Hitting the gym faithfully for about a year, I then started doing my research online. I had found the world of fitness, and immediately fell in love.
In June 2010, I entered my first figure competition, and proudly brought home my first place trophy. It was right then and there, I caught competition fever. Since then, I have competed in 5 shows, and brought home 4 first place trophies, including 2 overall trophies.
One of my top goals in life is to help motivate others to live a healthy, fit lifestyle. My number one philosophy is this: Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something. You are in control. Do what makes YOU happy, set your goals high, and shoot for them with everything you have.
